About Wendy
Born and brought up in Jersey, Wendy worked as an art therapist in the UK for 20 years before returning to the island. Now she has a small private practice in Jersey, supervising other therapists. She has recently begun to offer support for parents who have a gender-questioning child.
Wendy initially trained as an English teacher. The desire to give all pupils a voice, no matter their ability, inspired her to develop successful Writer’s Workshop projects in different authorities in the UK. Wanting to listen to children differently, she trained as an art therapist.
As an art therapist, Wendy provided individual and group art therapy sessions in mainstream and special schools in Harrow, Hertfordshire and Hillingdon. She worked with primary and secondary pupils and their parents.
For six years, Wendy was the co-ordinator of ATE (Art Therapists in Education). ATE is a sub-group of The British Association of Art Therapists. Wendy was also the first art therapist to participate in the CAST training course, recognised by the British Association of Dramatherapists (BADth). She gained the Creative Arts Supervision Training Diploma in 2010.
In 2015, Wendy attained a Diploma in Group Work Practice from the Institute of Group Analysis (IGA) and achieved Group Work Practitioner status.
